Public Liability

Protects the insured for any legal liability arising out of damages for accidental bodily injury, death and/or loss or damage to third party property. These may include damage to personal property, cars, etc., of the visitors by falling objects or injuries to visitors arising out of fall on slipper floors.

    Claim conditions

    • All litigations expenses must be incurred with written consent of the company.
    • The Liability of the insurer will not exceed the sum insured.

    Exclusions

    • Any incident outside geographical limits.
    • Loss or injury to employees
    • Liability arising out of ownership or possession of any mechanically propelled vehicle
    • Damage or loss to contract works

    Work Injury Benefits (WIBA)

    Provides cover in respect of bodily injury by accident or disease caused to employees arising out of and in the course of employment. Cover is as provided under the Work Injury Benefit Act 2007, subject to policy terms and conditions. Underwriting Guidelines

    Claim conditions

    • To notify Reliance Insurance immediately in case of an accident
    • To notify the Director of Labour immediately
    • Complete the relevant documentation
    • DOSH forms available from the labour office
    • Original medical bills

    Exclusions

    • Out of work injuries
    • Expenses/benefits payable from other insurances GPA, NHIF
    • Injuries sustained outside the geographical area
    • Employees below the age of 16 years
    • Expenses/awards as a result of court proceedings

    Contractors All Risks

    Contractors are often required by the terms of their contracts to have this insurance. Cover is provided for:

    • Material damage to contract works
    • All risks on machinery and plant
    • Third party liability arising out of performance of contract
    • Cover extends for period of contract plus maintenance period.

    Underwriting Guidelines

    • Proposal form must be filled
    • All details must be provided regarding the nature of the contract e.g. location of site
    • Names of subcontractors
    • Details regarding engineers
    • Description of contract works
    • Expansion of contractors
    • Details regarding physical environment of site
    • Limits of indemnity

    Claim Process

    In the event of a claim the insured must inform Reliance Insurance immediately. We then appoint an investigator depending on the size of the claim.

    Exclusions

    Professional Indemnity

    By virtue of their qualifications, persons in the professions carry a high degree of responsibility in law to their clients. If they fail to measure up to the standards required of them so that their clients suffer financial loss as a result, they may well find themselves liable to reimburse this loss. This situation has created a demand for protection, which can be provided by a specialize type of insurance know as “PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY”. Professional who can be covered include:-

    • Auditors/Accountants/Tax Advisors/Actuaries
    • Advocates/Notaries
    • Civil and Constructural Engineers
    • Quantity Surveyors/Land Surveyors
    • Valuers/Property Consultants
    • Architects

    Extensions

    • Loss of documents cover can be given for an additional of 10% of the basic premium
    • Dishonesty of employees for an additional of 10% of the basic premium
    • Incoming and outgoing partners for an additional of 20% of the basic premium
    • Libel and slander for an additional of 20% of the basic premium. 

    Exclusions

    • Shipping and Forwarding and Customs Agents
    • Foreign activities of Multi-National Accountants
    • Plastic Surgery and Blood Banks
    • HEALTH and Biological Research facilities
    • Genetic damage connected with X-ray and other radiation equipment.

    Underwriting Guidelines

    • Acceptance depends on:
    • Satisfactorily completed proposal form
    • Claims history
    • Qualifications
    • Experience (normal requirements are that the proposer has been in private practice for at least three years)
    • The number of addresses from which the proposer carries on the practice.

    Employers Liability

    Provides cover against legal liability under common law for damages and claimants costs and expenses of litigation in respect of bodily injury by accident or disease to employees arising out of and in the course of their employment directly related to breach of common law or statutory duty.

    Underwriting Guidelines

    Claim conditions

    • To notify Reliance Insurance immediately in case of an accident
    • Forward any Third party correspondences or court summons (unanswered) to Reliance immediately upon receipt.
    • Do not accept liability

    Exclusions

    • Out of work injuries
    • Expenses/benefits payable from other insurances GPA,NHIF
    • Injuries sustained outside the geographical area
    • Employees below the age of 16 years
